Silver Centre Seconds Chronograph, A Lugrin Patent

1 of 6
A very good Antique, Swiss made, Silver Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch dating from c1895. It is in very good condition and in working order.
This watch is from a collection that has been in storage for some time, therefore would benefit from a clean and service, as recommended for all antique watches.
The plain silver case is marked with the case maker's mark "AG" and ".935" mark for silver - a slightly higher grade than sterling silver (0.925) alongside Swiss control marks. The case also has the serial number 105159. The case is in very good condition but does have some very small indents.
The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and an outer chapter marked from 25 - 300. There is a sub-seconds dial and six o'clock and a minute counter at twelve, marked from 2 - 30.
The Swiss made movement in good condition and working order, although would benefit from a service as previously stated. It is signed "Racine Geneve" and also stamped "BREVET +359", a Swiss patent number that I believe was granted in 1889, relates to improvements in the construction of chronographs. It was granted to Alfred Lugrin in L'Orient de L'Orbe.
Afred Lugrin founded the company L’Orient de L’orbe in 1884 which later became Fabrique d’horlogerie Lemania. The company specialised in complications such as minute repeating, chronographs and calendars. The company is still producing well respected movements which are supplied to some of the best watch companies in the world.
The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 103.1g.
A good example of a Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch, a nice addition to any collection.
