Silver 1924 Buren pocket watch and chain.
Silver 1924 Buren pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a nicely jewelled stem-winding movement, identified as Buren, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 45mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly smaller than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Glasgow (import mark), 1924, with the sponsor’s mark for J Weir Ltd, jewellers and silversmiths of Buchanan Street, Glasgow. The case has light surface marking and a mild unevenness to the back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1920s piece.
The glass lens is in lovely condition.
The silvered dial has is in its original finish, there is light marking but nothing too detrimental. Original blued steel Breguet style hands.
The watch comes with a silver double chain with the components hallmarked for Chester 1923 with a maker’s mark of B&S, probably Britton & Sons. Each length of chain measures 22cm including the T-bar and the clasp.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
