Set of Eight Carved Oak Dining Chairs. %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Quality set of eight carved oak dining chairs c.1970. Very sturdy constriction in solid oak throughout, in the manner of 17th.c. South Lancashire ‘backstools’. The tall backs with arched cresting rails, finials to the stile tops and carved detail are all typical of the form. Unusually however there carving is also repeated on the reverse of the backrests. Panelled seats raised on turned and block front legs, joined with a turned stretcher at the front (again correct for the style) and double straight stretchers at the sides for extra strength. Excellent condition.
Dimensions: width 20″, depth 20″, height 43″.
