Scottish Notarial Document dated 1511
Scottish Notarial Instrument dated 1511 in the Reign of James IV. Handwritten onto Vellum with the fine Notary's Seal of Walter Chepman.
Narrates that James Schaw of Sauchy, Knight, personally appeared and quit claimed Letters of Reversion made to him by John Blaire of Auchendrane, anent the redemption of the halflands of Middle Auchendrane for payment of 200 Merks Scots and bound himself to deliver the said letters to John Blaire or Master Alexander Schaw, Archdeacon of Whithorn. Dated 29th July 1511.
19 Lines of Latin plus 8 lines of testing clause.
Sir James Schaw of Sauchy, held many high offices under King James III including the Constabularyship of Stirling Castle and the custody of his son and successor the Duke of Rothesay (King James IV).
