Scottish Fusee Pocket Watch, Wiseman, Hamilton
A nice Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fusee Pocket Watch, made by J Wiseman & Son of Hamilton, Scotland, dating from c1884.
The watch is in good overall condition, however not in perfect working order it runs but can stop intermittently and will start again if given a gentle shake. Therefore the watch is being sold as in need of service/repair.
The English made sterling silver case is in good condition. It is hallmarked with case maker's mark "JF", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the London town mark and date letter "I" for 1884/85. The rear of the case has a central cartouche that is free of initials. The engraving very worn so the case has a smooth appearance. The case is in good overall condition, but there are a couple of shallow indents to the rear.
The English Lever Fusee movement is not in perfect working order as stated above. It is key wound and set (key not provided).
The dial is in good condition, but has a chip at the 24 minute mark - see photo. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock.
The watch measures approximately 52mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring).
