Scathing 1881 Pub Landlord Divorce Papers
Hand Written Vellum Document on the Divorce Between Charles Owen Collard & Mary Ann Collard (c.1881)
Landlord & Barmaid of the Queen's Hotel in Queen Street, Carmarthen, Wales.
Original 19th century hand written vellum document on the divorce of a husband & wife with the surname Collard, document consists of 49 hand written sheets with some sheets having text to both sides, the couple were married in 1876 with various dates mentioned throughout the 1870's & 1880's, several names & places also mentioned.
A scathing report that goes into incredible detail against Mary Ann Collard with numerous references to her adultery, drunken & violent behaviour, unclean habits & much more, text is very legible [see images for examples].
The size of each sheet is approx measures approx 16 x 14 inches
The usual light marks or minor browning to vellum minor general wear, due to the folds the document does not lay flat. Overall in very good condition.
Unique item giving a fascinating insight into various areas of the 19th Century.
