A stunning set of Victorian postal scales by Sampson Mordan. As can be seen in the photos, the scales are in excellent antique condition with the full set of Sampson Mordan weights. The coromandel veneered base is also in beautiful condition - especially given the age of the scales. The engraved brass platform for the letters would date the scales to around 1885. The weights are also in lovely condition. There are a couple of dents to the bottom edge of the two larger weights, but these are not visible when placed in the receptacles. The base measures 28 cm in length and 14.7 cm in width. The scales stand 10 cm in height.
