Romantic Gifts For Her Heart Shaped Compact
This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
A gorgeous 1950s Kigu " Cherie " (58-Series) romantic heart shaped powder compact.
A luxurious engine turned lid & base with a lacquered finish so that it will not need to be cleaned. It was traditional to give these compacts to girlfriends & wives as a love token. They are the classic heart shaped novelty compact seen in so many compact books. The unique shape of the Kigu 'Cherie' not only looks like a heart shape but also the name inscribed on the mirror bezel 'Cherie' means darling / beloved in French. The original sifter is present which means that this compact may still be used with loose face powder.The inner case is typically ornate with a beautifully decorated inner lid being held in place by the Kigu registered sliding catch which was designs to prevent ladies breaking their nails. The whole compact is in excellent condition - the brass beautifully engraved & protected by a transparent coat of enamel. The mirror gives a good & accurate reflection. There is a very subtle hard to see 'water mark' on the mirror which is no way detracts from this item.
The most romantic of presents - the classic heart shaped compact measures 3 1/8 " X 3" & weighs 81.2 grams.
