Regency Period Stick Barometer Barometer Regency
This cistern stick barometer is typical of the Regency period and it was made by John Barrelli, a antique clock and barometer maker based in Bath during the second decade of the 19th century. The barometer has a deep, nutty-brown mahogany finish enhanced by a herringbone pattern veneer and triple satinwood stringing and it is in full working order. The barometer has a broken arch pediment, a silvered brass register plate and a manually operated vernier slide protected by a hinged glazed door. In common with most barometers of this period it is likely that the mercury tube has been replaced but everything else appears to be original including the domed cistern cover, the spirit thermometer, and the engraved scale. This is a good quality scientific instrument made in the fashionable market town and Georgian spa resort of Bath almost two hundred years ago. Item No. 0014.
