Rare Stratton ballet musical powder box
Very rare Stratton 'Musica' ballet / ballerina musical powder boxes, 1950s enamel musical powder boxes

Such a rare opportunity to acquire a working Stratton 'Musica' with a delightful enamel ballet scene on the lid. The powder box is in excellent condition & it comes complete with the original pouch, puff & sifter which are pristine and do not show any signs of use. The enamel scene is in very good condition. The three photos of the lid are taken close-up to show how good the enamel is. Originally this scene was taken from a photograph by the society photographer Baron & it bears his signature. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The bevelled mirror is excellent & it gives a perfect reflection. The original sticker is in place on the mirror detailing how to activate the self-opening inner lid which works perfectly every time. The stopper sticker is also in place stating 'LIFT STOPPER TO PLAY DO NOT OVERWIND.' Turn the winder five times, pull up the stopper and the musical box plays its enchanting tune.
The tune plays for one minute & forty five seconds. This is a sound little musical box that plays well.
The enamel lid is in very good condition and close up 12" away from your eyes looks perfect only when you tilt it can you see feint surface scratches. There is only one tiny pink prick of enamel loss and that is on the ballerina's out stretched leg - outer calf area. These are so hard to see they do not in any way detract from this rare & valuable musical powder box. They are being mentioned for accuracy.
This Stratton 'Musica' measures 3 1/4" X 2 3/4" & weighs 173.4 grams.
