Rare Large Georgian Bilston Enamel Tobacco Box
An extremely rare Large South Staffordshire Bilston enamel green ground Tobacco Box made mid 18th century, of elongated oval form, decorated to the lid with a Watteauesque scene of a courting couple and chaperone in a landscape, the sides with floral sprays, within raised white scrollwork reserves and surrounded by raised white floral and foliate decoration. The interior in white enamel. Measures 7 1/4in. (18.5cm.) long.
In superb condition with no damage or loss to the enamel. Still retains good strong hinge. Amazing condition considering the age of this piece.
