Rare Georgian Antique Gentlemens Mail Box.
An unusual leather covered Royal mail box, embossed on the top with King George's Royal Crescent.
This antique personal mail box has its original working lock and key, inside is plushly lined in a blue fabric and lining paper.
Also inside is a paper makers label, ' J.Powell. Original makers to his Majesty-No 341 Oxford St London'.
The brass lock is also stamped by the maker 'G. Brettell'.
This type of antique mail box would have been used to keep letters sfa and private between the home and delivery.
This one still has its original brass carrying handle from which it would have been hung on a belt.
In very good, original complete and clean condition.
