Dating to circa 1915, this is one of the desirable alternative cribbage boards. There is an example of this form of trench art in the V&A collection. These do turn up but not often, and are highly prized additions to collections. This example is one of the best, it has a well preserved and cared for stock, with a metal butt plate with the concealed oil/cleaning recess behind a hinged metal cover. There is also the original sling swivel is in place. The cribbage board/peg holes are laid in a v either side of the vacant shield cartouche. The metal is of a heavy guage. the original turned metal peg markers are inside the hidden recess.

Condition is excellent.

Size: overall length is 35 cm at its widest it is 13 cm and is 5 cm thick Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
