Rare Angle Sign Post Stick Barometer
A rare Georgian angle or 'sign post' stick barometer. A fine mahogany case with parquetry fan inlays. A stepped base with opening door to the bulb cistern. A very well engraved silvered scale with slide scale indicator at the top. Circa 1800.
The angle barometer was invented around 1680 and was a way of 'scale magnification' and showed the movement of weather in greater detail. These inclined stick barometers are seldom seen and this is a very good example.
