RARE 3rd edition in ORIGINAL cloth. 315 pages + 7 full page engraved plates by the author and an engraved title page. In its original bottle green cloth, blind stamped covers and gilt titles and illustration on the spine. original chocolate colour endpapers, with bookseller label "S. Reed, Whitby" to inside front board. The plates still have their original tissue guards. The cloth has some spotting and a little wear, a small pinprick pull at edge of the cloth at top of the back board. The contents are above average for this type of book and the wear as seen when they usually appear on the market. This edition NOT mentioned by Quayle. He mentions an 1866 and 1877, 2nd and 3rd editions? Did he mean 1869 as 1877 being the 3rd edition? Originally published in 1860
