Pair of large Gothic oak armchairs with tapestry covers. High padded backs and sprung seats with tapestry covers woven after the great series of medieval Flemish tapestries known as ‘The Lady & The Unicorn’. Representing the sense of hearing the panel reproduced here shows The Lady playing an organ on a table covered with a rich cloth, with a female attendant and the Lion and Unicorn with their tall pennants either side. Solid oak frames with straight arms on curving supports. Very unusual twist carved front legs joined with a decorative pierced carved front stretcher. Moulded side stretchers and double stretchers at the rear make for a very sturdy design. Excellent condition. Please contact us for more images, delivery and shipping quotes.
