Pair of 20th.c. Chinese yoke back side chairs c.1960. Elegant design in solid and well figured elm with the distinctive yoke top rail (ideal for hanging clothes on if to happen to use these as bedroom chairs!), a bowed back splat and oppositely curved stiles over a woven rattan seat (with a wooden board below) on straight legs with a shaped apron at the front and sides and a step stretcher at the front. Excellent condition, the side of one chair appears to have been exposed to a lot of bright sunlight revealing the original timber below the coloured lacquer finish.
