This is a wonderful pair of carved hardwood African heads in the Art Deco style clearly inspired by the Austrian designer / sculptor Karl Hagenauer, handmade in Africa in the mid 20th century.

The wood is attractively figured with a lustrous waxed finish. Various numbers and letters are marked on the underneath of the plinths including 'NOXUY' and 'AR 2200', the meaning of which we can only guess.

Weight: 820 & 748 g to give a total weight of 1.568 kg
