Nice early Tunbridgware painted whitewood sewing clamp. It's quite a large example and unscrews in the middle for storage of pins, thimble etc. It has a small area of rubbing and paint/varnish loss at one side, clearly shown in the photos. Also a small area of paint/varnish loss to the underside of the lid. The painting is typical of the time showing a red roofed house in a rural landscape. The pincushion is covered in tan coloured velvet and appears original. It measures approximately 6" long to the bottom of the screw as shown. Dates from about 1800. I prefer payment by bank transfer, details on request.
