This is a decorative original copperplate map of Shropshire by Johan Blaeu dating from the 1650's.

This is a strong impression on thick paper with central fold as published and with early colouring. Spanish text verso.

It is decorated with four coats-of-arms, an ornate title cartouche with fish on a string and a sheaf of wheat (bottom left) and a mileage scale with putti (bottom right).

Condition: There are generous margins to top and left and right sides. The map is evenly discoloured there is a cluster of small foxing spots on top and left margins and some minor creasing in the right margin. There are four pin hole-sized worm-holes, two in the image and two in the margin.
