A rare late 19thc native Canadian model birch bark canoe with family provenance, 242 long made in the traditional way of stripped birch bark a rare survivor. This by family repute was brought home to Ireland by Walter & Nester Skrine, (Nester became a famous author & collector of Irish folk music, she published under the name of Moira O`Neil they were the parents of Molly Keane herself a famous author ) Walter & Nester farmed in Canada for many years before returning to Ireland in the early 1900s ( there is a Skrine creek in Canada named after him. We purchased this from the family at Ballyrankin house Co Wexford the were they settled
