We are pleased to offer for sale this rather wonderul enamelled Plafonnier or ceiling light in glass by the Parisian lighting company Loys Lucha. The plafonnier is hexagonal and hangs from the original fabric cords which join in a knot and continue double up to the brass single hook ceiling rose. On the outside of the bowl are three wooden bosses, from which are atttached the cords on the interior. The bowl has a stylised rose and leaf pattern in shades of amber enamel, with raised tube-lining, while the frosted surrounds have a striped pattern in the frosting. As you will see from the photographs, the roses almost seem to gfow..

Les Verreries d'Art Loys Lucha (1910-1931) specialised in high-end enamel lighting and lamps. The factory was initially in Nancy, then it relocated to Billancourt, on the outskirts of Paris. The enamel techniques are comparable to the production at Leune, a Paris factory headed by the celebrated glass artist, Auguste Heiligenstein. The colours were gorgeous, vibrant, but never gaudy.

The company was formed by Louis Joseph Chafford-Lucon 1880-1951 and the name Loys Lucha is derived from parts of his name.

The plafonner has been rewired with gold coloured fabric covered braided flex and is earthed. The light fitting will take a BC or 22dbulb. As with all electrical items,it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician at installation.
