Lord Nelson's funeral-The Times January 10th 1806
The Times newspaper for January 10th 1806 with full coverage of the funeral of Vice Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson: who had been killed during the Battle of Trafalgar the previous October.
His funeral was a vast spectacle, at the time probably the largest public event in London’s long history. Advertisements appeared for days beforehand promoting the best vantage points for the procession to St Paul’s Cathedral, and newspapers such as this one published souvenir editions.
By their very nature ephemeral surviving broadsheets and other daily papers from this period and with the exception of some taped repairs this example is in quite good condition. NB - the old fashioned archival type tape used is of the 'lick' variety rather than Selotape and thus has become partially detached. Thus with care could be removed entirely and preservation carried out in a more suitable Manne. Measuring some 17 by just under 12 inches it roughly equates to tabloid format. All items are covered by the Distance Selling Regulations which give buyers the right to cancel the purchase within seven days after receipt of the item for a full refund less RETURN transport costs
