Large Postal Scale by Sampson Mordan, London
This wonderful pair of letter scales are by the very famous Sampson Mordan, the most highly sought-after maker, signed on the front, S.Mordan & Co. London.
The base is made from solid Mahogany and houses the set of five solid cast weights including the small bell shaped one, often missing but present and correct in this case.
The letter pan is beautifully engraved with the postage rates for "Inland", "British Empire", "Egypt & USA" and "Other Countries"
Dating to the Victorian era, around 1900, this is an impressive desk / office accessory, in superb polished condition. The base has a footprint measuring 10 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 4 1/4" tall.
