Large antique The Eldon Lever pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed 'warranted English lever' and it is all protected by an inner fitted cover.

The watch measures 59mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so larger than the usual 50mm diameter. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1907 with a case maker's mark for William Ehrhardt of Hatton Garden and Birmingham. The case is in very nice condition, just surface scratching around the winding hole on the inner cover where the key has slipped.

The watch glass has very minor marking, and is very acceptable.

The dial is signed The Eldon Lever and it also has the name of the original retail jeweller Benjamin Harral of Barnsley. The dial has some damage around the very edge but it is mostly covered up by the bezel. One of the hands is a later replacement.

The watch comes with a heavy single silver albert, 33cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is hallmarked for 1903. Each of the graduated links has the lion silver mark. There is also a silver fob awarded for a ploughing competition in 1923. The front of the fob has the initials WJS. The chain and fob weight 72g.

The watch and chain will come in a new presentation box.
