The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. ( A winding key is included )The movement is the Home Watch Co grade and the serial number 4552949 which tells us that it was made between August 1890 and Febuary 1891. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 55mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Birmingham hallmarks for 1898 with a maker’s mark for Alfred Bedford, the manager of the London branch of Waltham. . The case has light surface marking from use and some light wear to the engine turned detail on the back but overall it is in nice condition for an 1890s piece.
The movement is later than the case although correct.
The glass lens has minor marking from use but overall it is in nice condition.
The signed enamel dial has a very faint hairline crack to the bottom of the sub seconds dial but otherwise it is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
