Large 19th C. Chinese Porcelain Blue & White Vase
A Large Antique Chinese Blue & white and Crackle Glaze Vase.
Circa 1880, Canton, Qing Dynasty.
A large and imposing piece, richly decorated in underglaze blue and depicting two fierce, confronting dragons, amid flowering Rock-Peony blooms.
This vase is well-painted with a vigorous energy, the long scaled creatures flowing all the way around the circumference. All set against a pale crackle glaze. The neck with stylised prunus branches in high relief.
The base and shoulder moulded with archaic 'faux bronze' mounts. The underside base similarly with an archaic bronze-effect character mark.
A really impressive and decorative piece.
Note - chip away to the upper rim, as clearly shown. An easy repair but I prefer to offer the vase, as is and unrestored. Otherwise in very good order and still displaying well.
