Lambert Bros Silver Hunter Pocket Watch

1 of 6
Lambert Brothers, New York
Silver Hunter Pocket Watch
Circa 1902
17 Jewels
Dial signed Lambert Bros, New York.
The movement signed Lambert Bros, 58th St & 3rd Ave, New York.
Lambert Bros was founded in 1877. The company was a family business owned by Italians August Lambert and his brother built a reputation for fine quality. Later, Henry L. Lambert (1905 – 1983) headed his father and uncle’s business. The company’s store was located at Third Ave at the corner of 58th street and sold bracelet watches, medals and a variety of fine jewelry – cigarette cases, pearl strings, rings, bracelets, cufflinks, brooches, earrings, chains and necklaces. Zale Corporation of Dallas bought Lambert Brothers Jewelers Inc. in 1977, before Mr. Lambert’s retirement in 1978.
This watch is fitted with a fine 17 Jewel Illinois movement number 1621124 and was made circa 1902.
The case is stamped C. W. C. Co., Sterling. The hinges are gold tipped. There are no UK hallmarks.
The case has surface marks associated with normal us and age.
The case's engine turned design is mostly rubbed smooth but can still be seen in places.
there are no personal inscriptions.
To open the front, press the winder and the front cover will open to reveal the dial which is a crisp white with no chips or hairlines.
To set the hands to the time, open the front cover and pull at the lever at 5 with your thumb nail. Then turn the winder to set the hands to the time. Remember to push in the lever before closing the cover. It is also preferable to press the winder when closing the front cover to prevent wear to the cover against the steel clasp.
To view the movement, open the back cover with your thumbnail or case opening tool and then likewise with the dust cover. (Resist the temptation to do this too frequently as each time the covers are open, dust will enter the movement).
Approximate dimensions: diameter 54mm, weight 129 grams.
The movement has been serviced and is working well.
The movement is guaranteed for 12 months.
A large heavy, American watch which is a pleasure to handle.
