Ladies antique Waltham silver half hunter & chain
Ladies antique Waltham silver half hunter and albertina.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 120, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 18,282,381 dates it back to around 1912. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for Birmingham 1909. The case was made by the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific manufacturer of cases for various watch manufacturers, although they had a particularly close association with Waltham. There is a slight discrepancy in dates but we are happy that the movement and case are original to each other.
The case is in good condition, especially for such an early piece, with just light marking, nothing serious at all. The front cover has a small lens surrounded by enamel filled numerals. The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens. It is in good condition although there are traces of a trade label which would have been stuck to the glass when it was originally purchased.
The signed dial is in good condition and has original blued steel hands, including the half hunter hour hand, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single albertina, 22cm long including the T-bar and clasp.
The watch and albertina will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
