Johannes Andersen BA113 Dining Chairs Danish Modern
A COMPLETE SET OF 6 JOHANNES ANDERSEN MODEL BA113 DINING CHAIRS.
A great opportunity to acquire a stunning, 'one owner' set of original BA11 dining chairs.
The BA113 is generally considered to be one of the very best dining chair designs to arise from the hallowed 'Danish Modern' period.
Constructed from high quality, solid teak throughout and still upholstered in the original and beautifully contrasting black vinyl leatherette. The hoop or 'horseshoe' backs, exposed elbow rests, tapering legs and beautifully integrated, 'organic' styled uprights are a joy.
These particular examples date to the 9th January 1968, the underside of each seat still bearing a faint rubber stamp mark relating to the day they left the factory in Denmark.
Note - this model of chair came in two differing styles. This set, in my view, is the superior version featuring the beautifully integrated uprights. The other version features turned spars which support the elbow rests and are, in my opinion less flattering.
These chairs have had c.50 years of use but are in superb condition for age and are a credit to their former keepers. The frames are in A1 condition with no breaks, repairs or loss. The black leatherette very, very good, with only a few minor blemishes. One seat with a small neat patch, otherwise excellent.
A beautiful, striking and supremely comfortable set.
