A Very Rare Hawker's Licence -Which Reads Licence for a Hawker Trading on Foot - dated 1832. The Licence was issued to Mr James Divlin of Kelso at the cost of £4.00 for a period of 6 Months.(Usually these licences were for a year). The licence was issued by The Stamp Office, Somerset House, London, on the 1st January 1832 by William Augustus Montague Esquire, but issued at Newcastle on the 16th February 1832 by John Reed. The Licence Expiry Date was the 31st July 1832. The Two Colour Congreve Security Printed Border is by Charles Whiting. The £4.00 Duty Stamp reads 'Hawkers and Pedlars Licence WR IV' (William IV). Has a Watermark which reads. 'G H Green 1830' - being the paper maker. Has one tear which has been repaired on reverse using transparent acid-free tissue to Musuem Standard.
