A double sided platform board for Grantham. This sign would have been positioned on a post along with other similar boards on a railway platform, this would then be used by passengers of the day to see where their train was going to. The station master would then change these depending on which platform and train was leaving next. The wooden board is in its original burgundy colour with a cast iron fitting enabling it to slide on to its holder. circa 1940. There is a old split through the wood however this is still very solid and does not detract from it in anyway.
