Good pair William IV inlaid mahogany hall chairs
hese are a handsome pair of Antique hall chairs which will bring period elegance to your hall or reception room.
Antique hall chairs can be a bit heavy and baronial for more modern lighter spaces but these chairs are fine with the simplicity of Georgian design and the sophistication of the simple light boxwood inlay. These chair will look elegant in a modern or traditional antique setting. You could imagine them in a hallway of a London apartment and this would give you that first impression that you are entering somewhere that is decorated with taste and knowledge. (I love pieces like these that set a tone.)
These chairs are made in solid mahogany. They date to the reign of WIlliam IV around 1830. The design is quite striking with narrow long seats and a curved top rail. This top rail frieze is inlaid in bowwood with conch shell designs and fans.
The seats stands on turned front legs which are narrow and fine with banding to the front apron and the top of the legs.
The chairs are in good antique condition. Joints solid without damage. The mahogany is clean and of a good colour.
The chair backs are 34 inches high and the seats are 16 inches wide and 18 inches high.
