Good Late 20thC Taxidermy Juvenile Black Bear
The preserved juvenile black bear (ursus americanus) taxidermy mount, wonderfully poised in a freestanding and relaxed seated position, the whole surviving from the zeniths of the twentieth century in super overall condition.
The specimen is presented in very good condition with the hair nice and lustrous and all claws present. The entire composition only shows wear commensurate with age.
Black Bears are North America's most common and familiar type of bear. Typically found in wooded areas, black bears are native to North America, though most can be found in Canada and the northern United States. The black bear's diet consists mainly of fruit, plants and insects, though they also eat fish and small mammals.
As the name implies, most of these bears are completely black in colour, although some can actually appear cinnamon in colour. Males typically weight in around 300 lbs, while females are usually closer to half that. Weight fluctuates depending on the season, and black bear usually weight 30% more just before their winter hibernation.
Simply due to the brilliantly executed pose this is wonderfully entertaining mount that would instantly awaken any sleepy interior.
