Gilt pair cases, verge - Howard, Dublin 1782
MOVEMENT Fine quality gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, blued screws and silver regulator disk. Signed and numbered (1820). All in good original condition and running well. The mask engraved on the neck of the balance cock is particularly fine.
DIAL White enamel in good condition. There are a few surface scratches, one very light hairline from the centre towards 2, but no repairs.
INNER CASE Silver gilt. All in very good condition with just a little rubbing around the band and on the pendant. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. Good high dome bull's eye crystal.
OUTER CASE Gilt brass with bezel and back engraved. The cartouche on the back is engraved with 'From My dear old Granny, 1782'. There is a little wear to the gilding but otherwise very good condition. The catch and catch button are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
This outer case has a watchpaper from Gaskin, No. 22 College Green, Dublin.
William Howard is listed in Dublin between 1767 and 1796. The engraved date on the outer case almost certainly indicates the date of original sale.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
