Here is a lovely vintage English Georgian style flame mahogany & tan brown leather 5ft 1⅝” pedestal desk, circa 1980, in good original condition.

Description:
Here is a lovely vintage English Georgian style flame mahogany & tan brown leather 5ft 1⅝” pedestal desk, circa 1980, in good original condition.
The desk incorporates good quality triple panelfull grain inset tan leathers with elegant gold tooling borders, which are flanked by mahogany banding and a thumb moulded top. If you prefer a different colour leather, we can replace it with a colour of your choice for an additional £175. The desk comprises of a top section with two pedestals, all of which incorporate lovely flame mahogany veneer drawer fronts and cock-beaded perimeters. There is pullout leather lined brushing slides at the top of each pedestal, with eight graduated working drawers and a large filing drawer at the bottom of one pedestal. The drawer linings are constructed with mahogany and dovetail joints, incorporating good quality metal swan neck handles with oval backplates. The top three drawers incorporate working lever locks and keys.
The pedestals are raised on Georgian style plinths and are decorated with fine beading to the outsides of each pedestal. The desk is freestanding which means it can be situated in the centre of the room. The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport and access into the home.
This desk features a warm mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely mellow colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the work place to the home office. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
This desk is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the desktop frame, pedestals and plinths and insides of drawers but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The desk incorporates a good quality full grain tan brown triple panel leather, which is in good overall condition with nominal old use marks (see photos). If you prefer a different colour leather, we can replace it with a colour of your choice for an additional £175. All drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The top central drawer and top drawer of each pedestal retain the original working brass lever locks, with a working key (the other drawers were not designed to have locks). This desk is solid in joint and ready to use.
