Georgian Stick Barometer Pochaine of Newcastle
A Georgian period stick barometer. A mahogany case with an architectural pediment with the original brass finial. Chequered banded edging to the case with the original base cover. A silvered engraved dial signed 'POCHAINE FECIT N'CASTLE' A mercury thermometer. Circa 1815.
J Pochaine of Newcastle is recorded in Banfields' 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1811-1820. He is noted as working in Dean Street.
