Very nice late 18th century Georgian oak candle box, formed a bit like a coffer. Dovetailed together with astragal moulded top and bone escution. Original lock.

Inside there is a compartment like a coffer with lift up lid. In a coffers case usually for candles, in this case the candles probably went in the box with the compartment for spills.

Lovely original colour and patination.
