Circa 1775, George III mahogany tea caddy. The rectangular tea caddy has a flame mahogany top with a cast brass and gilded lifting handle in the Rococo style. The top has a chequered inlay of boxwood and ebony. Inside there are three compartments. The centre section has a brass lid with a pressed sunburst and a small lifting handle. There are two canisters on either side for storing the tea, again with brass tops which have pull off lids with a sunburst. On the front is a very stylish brass escutcheon with swags and tails, and the chequered inlay continues down the sides. The base has a felt lining. Great style and colour.

Size 12cm high x 20cm wide x 11.5cm deep.
