The watch has a Longines calibre 13.34 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the B&Co logo for Baume & Co.
Baume & Company was originally the London branch of Baume Frères, a Swiss watch manufacturer based in the Swiss Jura Mountains. As well as importing watches from Baume Frères and other watch manufacturers, they were also the exclusive importers of Longines watches into Britain and the British Empire.
It was usual for the Longines movements of this period not to be signed with the Longines name but they are identifiable by the calibre number, in this case 13.34 together with the movement plate shapes and the B&Co logo.
The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the widing crown and the articulated lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1917 with an importer's mark for Arthur Baume of Baume & Co. The case is in good condition, as is the lens.
The case is in the style of a Borgel case, an early attempt at producing a waterproof case. However, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The dial is in good condition. Originally the hands would have had infill but this has been removed over the years.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
