Gents Omega Seamaster 2990 (Ranchero) watch

Gents Omega Seamaster 2990 (Ranchero) watch.
(Due to insurance restrictions, this item is for purchase within the UK only.)
The watch has a calibre 268 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 17,496,547 which dates it back to 1960.
It is very likely that this watch left the Omega factory as a Ranchero but somebody, and often it was a Swedish agent called J P Brandt, had the hands and dial swapped to transform it into a Seamaster. Our understanding for this is that the name Ranchero (which roughly translates as farm boy) was not very appealing to the Swedish public, but the Seamaster name was. Hence, they are known as a 'transformed Ranchero'.
The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the Omega winding crown and the lugs so a good wearable size. The case is stainless steel case is in lovely condition, just general light marking to the back but not too serious at all. The inside of the case back is signed with the Omega triangular mark together with the case reference 2990-1 which is correct for the calibre 268. The back of the watch states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The lens is the original Omega lens, with the tiny clear Omega logo to the centre. It is in very nice condition.
The dial is in its original finish with original hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. There is self coloured freckling across the dial.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
Due to insurance restrictions, this item is for purchase within the UK only.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
