UK postage only for this item.
Gents Omega RAF wrist watch, c1945.
The watch has a 30.T2 SC 16-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 10,003,451 dates it back to around 1945.
The watch was ordered by the Royal Air Force for pilots and navigators.
The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The watch has an alloy case with a stainless steel case back. There are light surface marks to the case but overall very acceptable for a 1940s piece. The case back has the military arrow, or pheon, and the 6B/159 marking which was for a navigator’s watch. A reliable watch was an essential piece of equipment for the aircraft navigator so he could calculate the position of the aircraft. The movements had to be of the very best and most reliable quality therefore only top quality manufacturers were commissioned such as Omega, Jaeger Le-Coultre and Longines. There were set specifications that the manufacturers had to work to including Arabic numbers and centre seconds sweeps and blued steel non-illuminous hands.
The winding crown is a later replacement but still a vintage part.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is in its original finish, it has darkened with age but otherwise is in good condition with just minor marking. Blued steel hands, centre seconds and outer minute markers.
A later strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
