Gents large Atlantic Worldmaster Original watch
Gents 1960s over-sized Atlantic Worldmaster Original wrist watch.
Atlantic watches were very popular behind the Iron Curtain. At first they were smuggled into the Eastern bloc from Sweden but then the brand became one of only a few Swiss watch companies to strike an import deal with the Communist authorities.
The watch has a good quality Swiss 17-jewel FHF ST hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The seal around the edge of the movement is signed Original Swiss Atlantic.
The watch is an excellent size at 37.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is plated and there is some light marking but overall the condition is good. The screw-on case back is signed Original Atlantic... it also states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture. The winding crown is the signed original.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has cross hair detail, centre seconds and outer minute markers. There is a little marking to the dial but nothing too serious at all.
A later Hirsch Grand Duke leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will come in a new presentation box.
