Gents boxed Bulova wrist watch, 1958
A gents boxed Bulova wrist watch, 1957.
The watch has a chronometer grade movement, calibre 10BP, which is working nicely. This calibre of movement was made in the US from 1950 until 1960 and is a highly adjusted movement with five adjustments plus hot / cold. The movement is also stamped with the word isochronism which means that a balance that takes the same time to complete a swing no matter how big the swing is, has the property of isochronism. Although not officially certified as being of chronometer status, the quality is certainly there and would no doubt have been certified as such had it been Swiss. The movement is fully signed and the date code dates it to 1957.
The watch itself measures 32mm diameter excluding the lugs and the winding crown. The case is 10k white gold filled and it is in good condition. The date code on the case is 1958 so that ties up nicely with the movement as we would expect a slight variation as the movement and cases would have been made in different factories.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and “jewels” at 3, 9 and 12.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a 1950s Bulova presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
