Gents antique Cyma trench watch
Gents antique Cyma trench watch.
The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, identified as by Cyma, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is gold plated and it is in very nice condition for such an early piece, just light surface marking, nothing too serious at all. The inside of the hinged case back has the trademark Nonpareil (in the Order of the Garter with Winged Wheel, Cloud and Lightning. This mark was first registered by Schwob Freres (who created the Cyma name) in 1888.
The lens has very light marking, barely discernible to the naked eye.
The dial is in lovely condition. Originally it would have had painted detail to the numbers and hands but this has been removed over the years, probably because of radium content.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a vintage presentation box from a Buxton jeweller. The lid doesn’t quite shut 100% because of the new leather strap.
