Gents 9ct gold Rotary Commodore wrist watch 1966
A gents 9ct gold Rotary Commodore wrist watch.
The watch has an automatic movement which is working nicely.
The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and it is in good condition. There are Continental hallmarks inside the case back, together with British hallmarks which are difficult to read but possibly a date letter of 1966, which would be correct for the Commodore model. There is also an importer's mark SD for Sylvain Dreyfuss.
Rotary Watches Ltd was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish and it is in good condition with just some light marking but you have to look closely to see it. The watch has an early form of quickset date where the hands are moved repeatedly backwards and forwards between 12 midnight and 8.30pm until the desired date is reached.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a later Rotary presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
