Gents 9ct gold Baume wrist watch, 1964
A gents 9 carat gold Baume Bimatic wrist watch, 1964, with guarantee and presentation box.
Baume were a Swiss company, based in Les Bois in the Jura Mountains. They had a London branch in Hatton Garden. Arthur Baume was a prominent figure in Europe… as well as a member of the Royal Geographical Society, he also became president of the British Horological Institute. He was decorated by both the French President and the King of Belgium. As well as their own watches, Baume & Company were the importer of Longines watches to the UK and all of the British Commonwealth.
This particular watch has a Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.
The watch itself measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1964. Overall the case is in good condition, just a few surface scratches to the back but nothing serious at all.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has light marking but nothing too detrimental. Original dauphine hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes with its original presentation box and Baume guarantee, dated July 1965. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
