Gents 1970 Omega Constellation Chronometer gold capped wrist watch.

The watch has a chronometer grade 1001 automatic movement, 20-jewels, five adjustments, which is working well. This movement was in production from 1968 until 1973. The serial number on this particular watch, 31,504,110, dates it back to 1970.

The watch measures 35mm wide excluding the winding crown and 35mm high excluding the lugs. The case is gold capped which means a generous layer of 14k gold has been applied to the front and sides of the case and the bezel is solid 14k gold. It was said that the gold capping was so thick that it could hold its shape when not fitted to the case and apparently the salesman used to carry a sample of just the gold capping to demonstrate how strong it was.

The back of the watch has the gold Geneva Observatory logo, while the eight stars represent two world records for precision, in 1933 and 1936, and the six “wristwatch-sized” contests won between 1945 and 1952.

The inside of the case back has the Omega logo, together with the case reference 166.063 – 168.048 which is correct for 1001 movement.

Signed Omega winding crown.

Overall, the case is in good condition. General light marking, tiny little marks to the four front corners but you have to look closely to see them, and a few scratches to the back.

Unsigned lens is in good condition, just a tiny scuff to the bottom edge, approximately 1mm in diameter.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands. The centre seconds sweep is probably the original but it has lost its tail. Date display, quickset at first position.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company operates on a Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) basis which means that the international buyer is responsible for any import duties, taxes & customs which may be necessary to release an order from international customs. Tax and import duty varies from country to country so we recommend you check with your local tax office to see if any fees will be payable. Due to Customs regulations, we are unable to send watches / precious metals to certain countries. If you are unsure about your country’s regulations, please contact us and we can check for you. Any orders from prohibited countries will be refunded, less any Paypal fees which are non-refundable.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
