Gents 1960s Sekonda chronograph / wrist watch
A gents 1960s Sekonda chronograph / wrist watch.
The watch has a Poljot 3017 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. Sekonda and Poljot are the same company but Sekonda was the brand name used for the British market.
In the late 1950s, the Soviet government bought the tooling used to manufacture the Swiss Venus 150 chronograph movement, together with some parts. These were used to create the 3017 in response to demand from both the industrial and military sectors. Both wrist watch and pocket watch versions were produced and initially they were just available to official channels. However, in 1965, the decision was taken to make the watches available to the general public.
This particular watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the buttons. The case has a stainless steel bezel and case back with a plated centre. It is in good condition with just some pitting to the winding crown.
The lens is in good condition.
The dial is in good condition with original hands, two subsidiary dials (one for constant seconds and one to record up to 45 minutes), a telemeter, a tachymetre and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
