Gents 1950s Waltham ‘flying saucer’ wrist watch.
The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel AS1580 automatic movement which is working nicely. This calibre of movement, which would have been bought in as an ebauche, or blank movements, by Waltham was in production from 1955 onwards.
The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the handsomely shaped lugs. The main body of the case is a pale gold plated while the case back is stainless steel. There is some wear to the plate commensurate with its age. The case back states that the watch is waterproof however, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish and in beautiful condition. The red centre seconds hands is a nice feature too.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in its stylish Waltham presentation box, a super example of 1950s style.
